  • Our grapes are from one of the top growers in California, Ann Kramer in Sutter Creek. Primitivo is our Italian expression of Cal-Ital Zinfandel and is known in Italy for its range of styles from Northern to Southern Italy. Shake Ridge Ranch, elevation of 1600-1800 feet, with deep, well-drained, river rap rock, mixed with Sierra Shale gives a lean and vibrant wine. Crisp, crunchy cherry and blackberry flavors. The aging in American Oak results in a soft vanilla elegance. Enjoy the aromatics of tart strawberries, vanilla, and stone with undertones of mild Italian herbs and coffee. Our first release of a Primitivo, with only enough for our special wine club members. Flavors of firm black cherry, violet and graphite. Tim could not stop thinking about what foods to pair-he recommends herb roasted chicken, crispy quail, braised rabbit cacciatore.

  • Nebbiolo, with origins from Piemonte, is used in Italy for Barolo, Barbaresco, Gattinara and is considered a world class red wine grape. The high tannins require aging where the wine will shift in color and a host of complex flavors develop. Aromatics of dried red rose petals and wet stone. Ample acidity and a bit bitter, flavors of tar and roses with cherry, baked brown pears , raspberry and black licorice. Harmonizes best with the richest, strongest flavored meats and stews, pork cheek ragu spaghetti as well as dry aged cheeses. This is a wine that only gets better with age. Very limited release, for our wine club members only.

  • The inspiration for this very limited production (45 cases) wine came from the love of a few vines that winemaker Tim Borges has,  grown to love throughout the years of making wine from this vineyard.  Dolinsek Ranch, a magical vineyard planted over 110 years ago by the Frati family, has produced outstanding wines throughout this century. The soil is a rich sandy-Gold Ridge loam and is located just off the famous Laguna Road in Russian River Valley. Jim Dolinsek, owner and grower, had the chance to purchase the property 19 years ago and since then, has meticulously cared for each and every vine with a passion.  An exclusive barrel regime included aging 18 months in 50% new French Oak and 50% 1 year old American Oak barrels.  Aromas of deep raspberry framboise liqueur, vanilla and white pepper dominate the nose. On the palate, medium to soft tannins fill the mouth with a solid finish of intermingled fruit and allspice all supported by the underpinnings of solid acidity. A Zin lovers dream come true. Excellent aging up to 2024.

  • The Russell Family Vineyards are located in Paso Robles, 15 miles on the west side of highway 101,  benefiting from the tempering effects of the Pacific ocean.  This area of limited water, shallow, rugged, rocky, calcareous soil produces some of the finest wines in California.  Extensively low yields due to dryer conditions for the 2015 harvest in super acidity and a wine with great agibility.  The small and delicate berries were packed with complex flavors. A high ratio  of skin over juice contact resulted in a wine that is deep in color with great structure.  Drink now with decanting or age 4 to 8 years.
