Venturi Vineyard is located just north of Ukiah in the Calpella Valley on predominantly Pinole gravelly loam soils. Containing a mixture of sandstone, shale and quartz, these deep, well drained soils were formed from alluvial flows, depositing fist sized stones along the way. Pinole soils are some of the most sought-after soil types in Mendocino County. Head-pruned, 90 plus year old vines contribute to this wine’s rustic elegance. Charbono, with its ancient origins and its robust expression of the land in which it’s grown, embodies an adventurous wine like no other. Sommeliers across the country love Charbono for its unique food pairing.
