Known as Brunello in Italy when made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes. Our Sangiovese Grosso is made from grapes grown by legendary grower Frank Matagrano’s vineyard. Located in Lotus, California along the banks of the American River. The vineyard is on a steep North facing curve of the South fork of the American River, creates a micro climate with soils are round river rock and decomposed granite. The ideal conditions produces a wine with smooth intensity and impressive flavors.

2021 Harvest: 2021 water tables in California were loser and with dry farming there were less clusters per vine, less berries per cluster, smaller berries making for higher skin to juice ration resulting in a darker pigment and higher flavor intensity. That is the silver lining for the 2021 harvest.
