TASTING NOTES
From 100 plus year old vines, we are rewarded with dark red, rose color. Followed with boysenberry aromas that carry over to the mouth with juniper berry and subtle complexities of Italian roasting herbs such as sage and oregano. The pleasant acidity makes for a perfect companion to rich Italian cuisine.
VINEYARD NOTES
100% Certified Organic, Venturi Vineyard is located just north of Ukiah in the Calpella Valley on predominantly Pinole gravelly loam soils. Containing a mixture of sandstone, shale and quartz, these deep, well drained soils were formed from alluvial flows, depositing fist sized stones along the way. Pinole soils are some of the most sought after soil types in Mendocino County. Head-pruned, 100 plus year old vines contribute to this wine’s rustic elegance.
WINEMAKER NOTES
Head-pruned, 100 year old vines really contribute to this wine’s rustic elegance. What I love, love, love about Charbono is the prominent tannins yet a perfectly balanced wine for beef. It works with the meal, not overpowers it which is why it is the Italian’s choice when they do eat beef.
A Two Day Seriously Smokin; Event. Pairs with Primitivo, Zinfandel, & Old Vine Zinfandel.
